Day 3 – Juicing to Lose

OMG – yesterday was the worst day by far. I just felt blah. Very fatigued, but I still drank juice whenever I was hungry, and ate an occasional piece of fruit. Asian pear, and a little pineapple.

Today’s Weight: 164.6 – WoooHooo!!! How low can I go?

Ok, so I am pretty stoked by the loss. When I woke up I felt good. I drank my warm water and lemon, then proceeded to drink some carrot, pineapple, lemon, orange and yam juice. Had some good energy after  that and did some Zumba. Maybe about 20 minutes. But today I feel much better.

It seems like once the juice is digested I feel weak. Then I have to go make more. I know I really like the juices that are orange in color and I also had some beet and orange juice which was awesome! This was the first day I was really able to taste the beets. Now I am going to make a greenish, orange drink then have a big glass of water and cut up some chicken for dinner.

Hoping I feel better and better each day. Glad I have the week off from work too!

Day 2 – Juicing to Lose!

Weight: 166.2

WooHoo!!!! Well that is nice to see. Let me say I have tried the Lemonade diet, Atkins, HCG, Weight Watchers, MediFast, the list goes on and on…I know that I have only completed my second day on this system reboot, but the scale has never moved like this. Another discovery – and this might be TMI, but my pee is never yellow.

Yesterday I drank 5 glasses of juice. The cup sizes vary from 8 oz. to 15 oz. It just depends on what the juicer spits out. I am experimenting with the ingredients. This morning I will have a carrot, apple, ginger, strawberry cocktail. I’m going to do 3 carrots, one apple, 1″ of ginger, and 5 strawberries. Hopefully this is a good mix.

I would advise anyone to juice to their tastes. The reboot is designed to help you reset your palate, but if you don’t like the way it tastes you are going to have a hard time drinking it.

How do I feel?

I feel pretty good. This morning I have a slight headache, and I am starving. Yesterday I did not feel as hungry, but I had the overwhelming desire to chew. So, I had a banana, a couple strawberries, some blueberries, and a little pineapple. I know I should stick to my juice, but I feel like if I eat a little fresh fruit or some raw veggies I will still be fine.

I’m a bit tired. I know it’s because I am low on calories, but typically I feel a lot better after I get some juice in me. The green juice gives me the most energy, so I try to get a little green in all the juices.

I’ve had my hot water with lemon this morning, and my headache is gone as well as my intense hunger. I’m headed downstairs to cook breakfast for the kids because the mom and wife duties don’t stop, then I will drink my juice! I also have a Zumba class to teach tonight. I hope my energy levels are up.

Day 1 – Juicing to Lose!

So today is Day 1 of my 30 day juice fast. Inspired by the movie “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” I decided to become crazy about my health. Here is a snapshot of my health today…

Age:  36

Weight: 168.8 (as of this morning)

Height:  5’5 and a 1/2

Body Fat%:  33% (obese)

Body Age:  42 (according to my trainer)

My goal is to lose 14 pounds of fat, while gaining muscle. I do have a trainer because I have been battling with my weight since I was 9 years old and I have been unsuccessful on my own. However, I have only had him a week, and we’ve only worked out together once. Getting healthy has been my longest and hardest battle, but over these last couple of months I’ve started regaining control.

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 4 years ago, and I refuse to let my life be controlled by sugar and medication. It was hard for me to make the decision to heal myself because processed food is soooo addictive, but I have too many purposeful things to do and I need my health in tact, hell at its best, to carry those things out.

I am a wife and a mother of 2. I just became a Zumba instructor, and have decided to get my Personal Training Certification. If I can help other women, going down the same path, save some time, money, sanity, and of course their health, then I know my purpose is being fulfilled.

So About This Juice…..

Yesterday I had 5 cups of juice and I was drinking water throughout the day. Today I will increase my water intake to get at least the 8 glasses recommended. I am kinda following a 3 day plan I found on jointhereboot.com, but have altered it a bit, and I’ve decided to go for 30 days.

I am just experimenting with different fruit and veggies now. While I love green veggies and adore fruit, there was a lot of stuff I had never tried. Kale…radishes….beets….ginger (the actual root) to start with. So far I’ve juiced all of these except the radishes. I am going to put those into something today and see what happens.

I am also using apples, carrots, lemons, sweet potatoes, tomatoes and spinach. Now, because I am just starting I do not have a ton of recipes to share, but check out some of the blogs I am following, and visit http://www.jointhereboot.com/ for a ton of recipes.

The detox symptoms start immediately. I did not feel bad yesterday, just tired and a little foggy. Kinda out of it. But I know that the garbage is trying to stay put, and the micronutrients in the fruits and veggies are trying to push it out, so the battle/detox is on and I am feeling it. I had a headache yesterday, but I took some excedrin. Way to reintroduce some toxins back into my system right? LOL!!!

So here I am this morning…It was very early, and I am still sleepy! I’ve already had a hot cup of lemon/ginger water, and feel pretty good! Maybe I should have smiled…Mmm, well I will do that in the next set of pics.
