So today is Day 1 of my 30 day juice fast. Inspired by the movie “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” I decided to become crazy about my health. Here is a snapshot of my health today…
Age: 36
Weight: 168.8 (as of this morning)
Height: 5’5 and a 1/2
Body Fat%: 33% (obese)
Body Age: 42 (according to my trainer)
My goal is to lose 14 pounds of fat, while gaining muscle. I do have a trainer because I have been battling with my weight since I was 9 years old and I have been unsuccessful on my own. However, I have only had him a week, and we’ve only worked out together once. Getting healthy has been my longest and hardest battle, but over these last couple of months I’ve started regaining control.
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 4 years ago, and I refuse to let my life be controlled by sugar and medication. It was hard for me to make the decision to heal myself because processed food is soooo addictive, but I have too many purposeful things to do and I need my health in tact, hell at its best, to carry those things out.
I am a wife and a mother of 2. I just became a Zumba instructor, and have decided to get my Personal Training Certification. If I can help other women, going down the same path, save some time, money, sanity, and of course their health, then I know my purpose is being fulfilled.
So About This Juice…..
Yesterday I had 5 cups of juice and I was drinking water throughout the day. Today I will increase my water intake to get at least the 8 glasses recommended. I am kinda following a 3 day plan I found on jointhereboot.com, but have altered it a bit, and I’ve decided to go for 30 days.
I am just experimenting with different fruit and veggies now. While I love green veggies and adore fruit, there was a lot of stuff I had never tried. Kale…radishes….beets….ginger (the actual root) to start with. So far I’ve juiced all of these except the radishes. I am going to put those into something today and see what happens.
I am also using apples, carrots, lemons, sweet potatoes, tomatoes and spinach. Now, because I am just starting I do not have a ton of recipes to share, but check out some of the blogs I am following, and visit http://www.jointhereboot.com/ for a ton of recipes.
The detox symptoms start immediately. I did not feel bad yesterday, just tired and a little foggy. Kinda out of it. But I know that the garbage is trying to stay put, and the micronutrients in the fruits and veggies are trying to push it out, so the battle/detox is on and I am feeling it. I had a headache yesterday, but I took some excedrin. Way to reintroduce some toxins back into my system right? LOL!!!
So here I am this morning…It was very early, and I am still sleepy! I’ve already had a hot cup of lemon/ginger water, and feel pretty good! Maybe I should have smiled…Mmm, well I will do that in the next set of pics.
